April 17-18 Gallery Night/Day Pop Up – Canceled
April Gallery Nigh/Day event is officially canceled
January 17/18 2020 Gallery Night
We are happy to announce this quarter we have enough space for 3 artists! Our MARNmember artists for the January Gallery Night/Day are Katheryn Corbin, David Sear and Katie Stensberg!
Katheryn Corbin is a painter, potter, and figure sculptor. Pots and figures have both been a part of Corbin’s studio practice and teaching. Drawing and painting are important elements in each discipline, and her clay pieces are informed by the complementary processes of working with clay as vessel and as figure. Corbin is interested in historical developments in clay and variations across cultures, and she often explores different firing techniques and glaze surfaces. She has taught at all levels from elementary school through adult at the Evanston Arts Center in Evanston, IL; the Kohler Arts Center in Sheboygan, WI; the Milwaukee Art Museum; the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design; and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

Most of David Sear’s artistic output over the past twenty years has involved landscape. Three primary areas of study have developed: riverscapes, agricultural landscape, and local industrial scenes. While the imagery grows out of my desire to express a regional dialect, explorations of harmony between the natural and manmade worlds are at the heart of what I’m trying to achieve. As a source of inspiration, these places are good vehicles to explore my interest in light, both natural and supernatural.

Katie Stensberg feels it can be said that paintings are a reflection of how one internalizes the world. At times certain sounds and sights create a feeling of sensory overload, making my world very loud and bright. These feelings are typically internalized until they are released in an alternative form of expression, abstract art, with strong energy and emotion.
My artistic vision is to create from imagination rather than realistic references. Pieces are known for bold strokes and strong use of color. With an influence in street art, my style has grown to include spray paint. This medium brings rawness and grit. Additional mediums include acrylics, oil sticks and pastels. Titles of my work reflect humor and oddities that I find in every day life, reminding us all to not take life so seriously.
